1. How to open an account to trade US stocks?

In order to comply with the requirements of the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS), if clients need to trade US stock, they need to declare whether they are US citizens:

2. How to trade US stocks?

3. What are the trading hours for US stocks? Is there a time limit for pre-opening orders?

The trading hours for the U.S. stock market are as follows:

Summer Time:

Pre-market session (HKT): 16:00 - 21:30

Official Trading Session (HKT): 21:30 - 04:00

Winter Time:

Pre-market session (HKT): 17:00 - 22:30

Official Trading Session (HKT): 22:30 - 05:00

4. Can a US stock be bought and then sold on the same trading day?

There is no board lot size for US Stocks. In each transaction, clients shall trade one share at least. Clients may place a selling order immediately after the buying order is executed.。

5. What is the US stocks trading limit of each order? 

The minimum number is 1 share and the maximum number is 500,000 shares for each order. The amount of each order shall not be more than USD 10,000,000.

If the order price widely deviate from the "Prevalent best buying or selling price" and beyond the range, it shall be rejected. In this case, the client shall change the order price and place an order again.。

6. Can I trade US stocks when I have other currencies like HKD instead of sufficient USD in my account?

Yes. The Company shall convert other currencies to US dollar for settlement at the settlement day (T+1). The exchange rate is subject to prevalent rate that provided by the bank at the time of conversion.

7. What is Pre-Market trading?

Pre-market trading in U.S. stocks means that stocks can be bought and sold in additional trading sessions before the official trading sessions on major stock exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ.

4. Can Japanese stocks be bought and then sold on the same trading day?

Japanese stocks can be bought and then sold on the same trading day. Clients are able to place a selling order after the buying order is executed.

5. What is the stock quantity limit of each order? What is the stock quantity unit for each lot?

Each order shall be not less than 1 lot and not more than 10,000 lots. The stock quantity unit for each lot is 100 or 1,000 share etc.

5. Can a stock be bought and then sold on the same trading day?

Stocks cannot be bought and then sold on the same trading day. Clients can only place a selling order on the next trading day (T+1) or subsequent trading days after the buying order is executed.

3. What are the trading hours for UK stocks? When to place an order?

The trading hours for the UK stock market are as follows:

Summer Time: Hong Kong Time: 15:00 - 23:30

Winter Time:  Hong Kong Time: 16:00 - 00:30

4. Which currency is used to trade UK stocks? Is there any trading limit? Can a stock be bought and then sold on the same trading day?

Clients trade UK stocks via Guotai Junan Securities (Hong Kong) at an order price and a settlement price generally in [Pounds # ] and some UK stocks are also traded in [USD] or [EUR].

The basic unit for trading is one share instead of one lot. The order price shall not be widely deviate from the market's prevailing prices, otherwise it will be rejected.

Stocks can be bought and then sold on the same trading day. Clients may place a selling order immediately after the buying order is executed.

# As UK stocks are quoted in [Pence] (1 Pound = 100 Pence), clients need to convert stock prices to [Pounds] when placing an order. For example: The market price of HSBA, a UK stock, is 509.5 pence, which shall be converted to pounds by the client as follows: 509.5 / 100 =5.095 pounds, which is the order price.

4. What is the settlement date of Vietnam Stocks? The settlement date of Vietnam Stocks is T+3.


5. Can a stock be bought and then sold on the same trading day?

Since Vietnam Stocks do not allow day trading, clients are not allowed to sell stocks that are bought on the same trading day, the stocks can be sold 3 trading days after they were bought (T+3).

For example, clients buy a stock on Monday, the stock can be sold on Thursday. For stocks selling, the fund is also available to use on T+3.


6. Which currency is used to trade Vietnam Stocks? Vietnamese Dong (VND).


7. Can clients trade Vietnam Stocks when they have other currencies like HKD instead of sufficient VND in their account? No. Clients must have sufficient VND in their account before trading Vietnam Stocks. Clients can contact Relationship Manager to place currency conversion instruction, and trade Vietnam Stocks after the currency conversion instruction has been completed.



8. How the VND will be handled after clients sell the stocks? The fund from stocks selling will be kept as VND on clients' account and available for trading. If clients need to convert the VND to HKD or USD, please contact Relationship Manager to place currency conversion instruction.
