Friendship Scam
  1. Be cautious when making friends online! Pictures may not necessarily be true, and the sweet words of the other person may not be true either. The authenticity must be verified.
  2. Falling in love may cause people to lower their security awareness, blindly trust the strangers, and even disclose personal information, account numbers, or passwords to third parties. When it comes to financial matters, be vigilant and do not tell strangers about your financial situation, account numbers, or personal passwords. Avoid being scammed both emotionally and financially!
“Ramp and dump” schemes / Fake Insider information
  1. Beware of strangers claiming to be investment gurus or holding insider information. Scammers may invite investors to join group chats and create the image of being an investment guru. Other group members may claim to have profited from the guru's investment guidance, lowering the investor's alertness.
  2. Scammers may then recommend low-priced stocks with low trading volume and concentrated equity to investors, claiming that certain stocks will rise sharply. They may induce investors to buy large amounts of stocks and then sell them at high prices, causing investors who bought at high prices to suffer huge losses.
  3. Before investing, do your own research and do not blindly trust the stock numbers provided by third parties. There is no free lunch in the world.
Impersonating Staff

Being cautious when someone claims themselves as the employee of a financial institution, scammers may create fake staff cards, ID cards, fake company forms, false phone numbers, or emails to contact investors. Do not easily trust the information from the unknown strangers or transfer money to strangers. If you have received any suspicious calls or messages, please record the information of the person, such as name, institution, department and position, phone number, or email. Do not hesitate to contact the relevant institution to verify the person's identity.

False Websites and Investment Platforms
  1. Be aware that some scammers may create investment websites or apps using the name of Guotai Junan International or other financial institutions. Once investors transfer funds, scammers may generate false gains to attract more money. Investors may find that it is too late when they attempt to withdraw funds. The scammer may provide various excuses to prevent withdrawals, such as requiring additional deposits to jump in line. In fact, the investors would not be able to take the principle back.
  2. Always keeping a rational mindset when it comes to money transactions, verify authenticity and use official channels to confirm the platform's legitimacy.

There are many fraud schemes, so remember the "three noes and one more" principle: "Don't click on unknown links. Don't trust unfamiliar phone numbers or messages. Don't reveal personal information, and verify multiple times before transferring money."
If you receive suspicious calls and messages asking for personal information, please contact us via our official customer service channels to verify the information or via your local law enforcement authorities to report suspected criminal/fraud activity.

Stay alert and vigilant against possible scams!
